Behind the Brand: WFH Life With the PupGrade Pack

This week looks a little different for the PupGrade pack…

Our HQ is getting a little TLC, so we set up shop at our homes alongside our real bosses: our pets.

They’re absolutely loving every minute of having us around (and honestly, we’re not complaining either). From “help” during virtual meetings to lunch break walks and endless puppy dog eyes, it’s been equal parts chaos and pure joy.

For a little fun, we’re opening our (virtual) doors to share a behind-the-scenes look at PupGrade: Remote Edition—plus a few tips we’ve learned to keep WFH life with your pup happy and stress-free.

WFH Life: Meet the PupGrade Pack’s Home Office Crew

With the PupGrade team out of the office this week, our dogs have fully stepped into their roles as home office “coworkers.” Some are curled up under desks, others keep a watchful eye for snack breaks, and a few like to make their presence known during virtual meetings.

We couldn’t resist snapping behind-the-scenes shots of our PupGrade pups doing what they do best—working hard… or hardly working. Either way, they’ve kept spirits high and tails wagging all week.

And while our pups have clearly mastered the art of remote work, we’ve picked up a few tips along the way to help make WFH life easier (and a little more fun) for both you and your dog.

5 Easy Tips for Working From Home With Your Dog

Working from home has its perks—like unlimited coffee and wearing slippers to “meetings.” The best part though? Having our pups by our side all day.

As much as we love it, balancing work and keeping them happy isn’t always easy.

Here are 5 tried-and-true tips from our own PupGrade pack to keep tails wagging and workdays running smoothly.

1. Start The Day Right & Set the Pace

When your dog wakes up ready to play and take on the day, jumping straight into work can feel like herding squirrels. A little routine can go a long way in setting a calmer tone for the day (for both of you).

  • Pre-Work Wakeup: Whether it’s a walk or play session, burning off extra energy before you log on helps your dog settle in.

  • Consistent Routine: Keep regular feeding, potty, and walk times to avoid mid-meeting surprises.

  • Midday Breaks: A quick cuddle, fetch, or snack break recharges you both better than a second cup of coffee.

2. Design a Pup-Friendly Space (Or Set Boundaries)

If you’ve ever had a dog stretch across your keyboard mid-email, you know the struggle. Creating a setup that works for both of you keeps tails wagging and your to-do list on track.

  • Cozy Coworker Corner: Give your pup their own bed or blanket near where you’re working so they feel included—without plopping on your computer.

  • Quiet Zones: Prefer some personal space? Use baby gates or dedicate a separate room when you need uninterrupted focus time.

  • Soothing Sounds: Whether it's focus music for you, calming music for them, or simple white noise, background noise can help block out barking triggers and create a relaxed vibe.

3. Give Them a Job or Keep Their Brains Busy

Bored dogs get creative…and not always in ways you’ll probably appreciate. Keeping their mind engaged with activities or simple “jobs” gives them purpose and helps you stay focused on yours.

  • Puzzle Time: Puzzle feeders, lick mats, or treat-dispensing toys keep curious noses (and paws) occupied.

  • Toy Rotation: Swap toys throughout the day to keep playtime fresh and exciting.

  • Office Assistant Duties: Teach simple tasks like fetching toys, “helping” you tidy up, or “guarding” your desk to make them feel like part of the team.

4. Speak Their Language: Signals & Rewards

Dogs don’t come with a home-office manual, but you can teach them your version of “office rules.” Clear cues and positive reinforcement help them understand when it’s time to play and when it’s time to chill.

  • Busy-Time Cue: A special mat or phrase signals your pup it’s time to settle while you focus.

  • Reward Calm Moments: Treats and praise for quiet lounging moments, instead of only reacting to excitement, reinforce good behavior.

  • Calm Check-Ins: Pause to calmly reassure your pup, helping them stay relaxed and less likely to demand attention with barking or paw taps.

5. Sync Work Blocks With Their Energy Levels

Trying to focus while your dog is mid-zoomie is a recipe for frustration. Plan your day around their natural highs and lows to keep things running smoothly.

  • Post-Play Productivity: Schedule big tasks after a morning walk or play session when they’re ready to snooze.

  • Nap-Time Deep Work: Use your dog’s natural afternoon downtime for meetings or focused projects.

  • Evening Energy Release: Wrap up the day with a walk or game of fetch to burn off leftover wiggles and mark the end of “office hours.”
