Halloween is right around the corner. This means that the potential dangers for your dog are higher than normal. Between the constant movement of people and the sweet treats being passed around, there’s a lot of stimulation for your pup. ID your dog
Halloween is a hectic time of year. With the constant opening and closing of doors, and shuffling of feet in and out of the house, it can be hard to keep track of your dog. This is why it’s always a good idea to have an ID tag on your dog. This will that even if the unthinkable happens and Fluffy escapes, you will be reunited.
Secure cords and remove decorations from reach
Just as you would with a toddler, you should remove chords and decorations from your dog’s reach. Pets can easily become tangled or consume a decorations. It always better to be safe than sorry and keep chord secured and decorations high.
Keep candy away
Humans may love the candy that Halloween time brings in, but dogs do not. Many candies have ingredients that can upset their stomach or cause severe illness. Make sure children do not share with Fido, leaving all candy on tables and out of reach.
Watch costumes
Nothing is cuter than a dog in a Halloween costume. That being said, make sure it’s a costume in which your dog can be comfortable. Anything tied around the neck should be loose enough to move up and down the dog. Nothing should obstruct your dog’s movement or ability to see, as that has the potential to lead to a dangerous situation. The general rule of thumb is make your dog comfortable.
Keep dog indoors or tethered
Like we said before, there’s a significant amount of traffic surrounding your house during Halloween. It can become very chaotic for your dog, so in some cases, it may be best to leave Scamp inside. If your dog must come out, just make sure to either be holding the leash or have your pup securely tethered to avoid any accidents.
